Santa's Favorite Cookies:
Donna P.'s Chocolate Chip Cookies
This is a very special recipe, courtesy of Donna.
Be sure to follow timing directions, and use Cook's vanilla ~
It will become your favorite, too!
* 1 cup Butter-flavored Crisco
* 2/3 cup golden brown sugar, packed
* 1 cup baking white sugar
* 2 large eggs, room temperature
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 1 tablespoon Cook's vanilla
* 3 cups unbleached flour
* 12 oz bag Nestle's semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350F.
In a large bowl or stand mixer, cream together the Crisco and both sugars until creamy. Don't whip.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well on low speed.
Scrape bowl. Add salt, baking soda, and vanilla, and mix until blended.
Add flour, one cup at a time, on low speed. Don't overbeat!
Add the chocolate chips and stir until completely incorporated.
Drop by spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet, lined with parchment paper. (Donna uses a 2 1/2 tablespoon cookie scoop.) LIGHTLY flatten the tops.
Bake for 6 minutes on the top shelf.
Turn the tray, and place it on the bottom shelf.
Bake for another 5-7 minutes, when the edges are lightly browned and the middle still isn't set.
When the cookies can retain their shape, move to a rack.
